murakamiHard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World was a mind whirlwind read — in a good way! Murakami doesn’t cease to amaze me in his creativity and considering this was his first novel, published in 1985, it is very easy to see how his writing career has soared so high.

The novel is told in first person from two different perspectives and two different worlds. Who these two individuals are, well, if I told you, I’d ruin it! Murakami does what he does best: he keeps you intrigued and turning the page, he keeps you guessing after reading every line only to realize your assumption is totally wrong and at the end, he slowly ties a loose knot while telling you its alright to take a breath of fresh air.
